"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Proverbs 22:6 King James

"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets."

Matthew 7:12 NASB

History...

In 1946, Arnold & Eva Kernan saw the need for a home for homeless children and began the Boise Christian Children's Home (Now the Christian Children's Ranch). They believed that children need:  A loving mom & dad, A stable home life, Daily Bible instruction, Solid Christian Character and To reach out to others in need. The Original site (north-west of downtown Boise) was 2-1/2 acres, then 6 more were purchased & old army barracks became additional sleeping quarters.  A dining hall was built and shared by all. But the Kernans had a dream:  They envisioned rural farm life with animals, homes with kitchens for each family group, and an on-site school to teach additional Christian values.

THE DREAM BECAME REALITY

On June 14, 1976, 80 acres were purchased at the current location.  Three homes were built and the NEW location became the Christian Children's Ranch. The old location just north of downtown Boise, became the Christian Retirement Village.  These two ministries are separate but are under one umbrella called: Boise Christian Homes, Inc.

TODAY

We have 4 large homes with kitchens and family tables (capacity of 40 children), 1 relief house to provide days off, 3 apartments, staff housing, offices, clothing room, food room, conference room, school with library, barn, mechanics shop, & wood shop, pasture with animals, 4-1/2 acre pond, and DREAMS OF EXPANDING.

FUTURE EXPANSION...

Other dreams are:

* To develop a Transitional House for those students who graduate out of our current program and are now required to leave the ranch facility.  A place to help young people make a healthy & productive transition into the real world, providing the resources for college, trade school, the military, or helping to get a job.

* To provide Christian & practical - Parental Training for our parents who need that extra help to get back on their feet.  To assist them to move forward with their children, spouse, and career building, etc., so they can, in-turn, provide a loving and stable environment for themselves and their kids.
